Project Description
“The main idea here is to use software the “wrong” way in order to alter and modify an image to contain glitches, artifacts, aberrations, corruptions, and other forms of digital detritus resulting from interfering with the image data.”
As part of a Digital Media Design project, I was tasked to experiment with how glitches and technical malfunctions can produce unexpected visual effects.
I personally was drawn to the tension between human emotion and technology, since computers typically lack the emotional depth that they help humans express. My process began with research into the concept of joy as the main human emotion and what it means within human emotional experience. That research then informed a series of engineered prompts for different generative AI tools, attempting to translate human joy into abstract color gradients.
